Do you know what the YouTube algorithm likes best?
It’s not just 'views.' It is 'dwell time' and 'engagement,' the time viewers spend communicating in the comment section after the video ends, rather than leaving.
However, most YouTubers focus solely on video production and often neglect the comment section.
So today, I am revealing a comment strategy applying the so-called 'But-So' method that will grab viewers by the collar and make them click 'Subscribe.'
Many people write in pinned comments, "Today's video is about ~. If you found it helpful, please subscribe."
Unfortunately, this is a 'over-explaining' format that will make viewers leave.
Comments also need [conflict (but)] and [resolution (so)].
Ordinary Comment: "We are holding a comment event. Leave your opinion and we will give you a gift through a raffle." (Boredom, Low Participation)
Drug Comments: "Actually, I debated until the very end whether or not to upload this video.
But I couldn't ignore the earnest questions you left in the comments.
So I stayed up all night summarizing only the key points. Please leave a comment with the one thing you are most concerned about right now.
But I plan to send a special reply to only the first 10 people, so please hurry!
Point: The moment 'But' is included, viewers start wondering, "Why did I hesitate?", "What kind of question was it?", and become immersed.
Are you just replying with "Thank you!" to the valuable comments left by your fans?
This also amounts to merely conveying 'information'. Try including a mini-movie in even a single reply.
Traditional Method: "Thank you for the good suggestion. I will keep it in mind for the next video.
'But-So' Method: "Wow, that's a really keen observation! But this part was actually omitted because it was a bit sensitive to cover in the video.
So to briefly add to it in a reply...
Viewers feel deeply moved (pleasure) by the fact that the YouTuber 'thought (but)' and provided a 'solution (so)' to a single question they asked.
If the video content is the main movie, the comment section should be the 'behind-the-scenes story' written together with the viewers.
But (Conflict): Throw out stories left unfinished in the video, difficulties in the production process, or plot twist points.
So (Resolution): Ask for viewers' opinions or offer special benefits to resolve that conflict.
Ultimately, viewers come for information, but ride the wave of conflict you designed and leave as fans.
Is 'But' included at least once in the 'pinned comments' of my video?
Adding value through 'So' rather than simple acceptance when replying Did you convey it?
Does the entire comment section form a single exciting storyline?
Without conflict, there is no immersion.
Try adding the seasoning of 'but' to your comment section right now.The algorithm's response will change.
